Experimental bands are often hit or miss…mainly missing on the good music making while the experimenting ruins it all. Imperial China I think are an exception to that point. They are a bit math-rock, with great instrumental parts that at times are chaotic and punk rock-ish, which then leads to a more linear Fugazi type of tune. I think they’re sort of a diet version of BATTLES  minus the weirdness.
